Although she grew up in California, Tracey Munger is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of Southeastern Louisiana University where she graduated in 1998 with a degree in Liberal Arts and a minor in History. After taking a year off school to spend time with her children, she started her legal career at Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert Law School. While in law school she worked for a local attorney as his lead law clerk overseeing a staff of 2 other clerks. She was charged with writing and reviewing motions in local and federal court as well as writing appeals to all three divisions of the Louisiana Courts of Appeal and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Tracey maintained an exceptional record of prevailing motions and appeals while working in Louisiana including a prevailing writ to the State Supreme Court and a one-million-dollar summary federal judgment in a wrongful death case.
Tracey graduated in the top 25% of her starting class in 2002 and relocated to Washington State where she began her career as a family law attorney. In 2007 she accepted a position with the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel defending indigent clients charged with simple and gross misdemeanors crimes. It is there that she both found her passion for the law and fulfilled her need to help people through difficult circumstances. She has remained dedicated to criminal clients and criminal defense work ever since.
In 2010 Tracey left the Department of Assigned Counsel in search of broadening her horizon’s and expanding her knowledge of criminal defense. She accepted a position with a prominent local felony defense attorney where she honed her skills. She opened her own criminal defense firm in 2012 focusing mainly on felony client representation and shortly thereafter was offered a contract from the Pierce County Department of Assigned Counsel to represent indigent clients that the department was unable to represent.
